More insight than an annual inspection

Wildspotters follows the earlier tunnel-monitoring project. It aims to monitor passage use and involve the public in nature. Annual inspections often prove insufficient in practice. Reduced use can indicate that something is wrong and prompt further investigation.

An existing camera, an adapted backend

We used an off-the-shelf camera and adapted the complete backend. It receives and processes images and makes them available to Wildspotters. Storage by location keeps footage linked to the passage where it was recorded.

For visitors, researchers and managers

Visitors can spot and identify animals. Researchers and managers can use footage to follow whether tunnels are used and functioning. A change in use prompts a closer look rather than automatically proving a fault.
