Making the climate buffer tangible
The pond at the Velserbroek headquarters was primarily a demonstration site in the early phase of the climate buffer. PWN wanted to involve people in the project while testing sensors and connectivity in practice.
From sensors to PWN’s Azure environment
We provided the sensors and connectivity and sent measurements live to the Azure backend through an Azure IoT Hub integration. The setup monitored temperature, water level, pH, EC and TDS, and weather. We used LoRa and LTE-M. At this location, LTE-M was more reliable than LoRa reception through KPN and The Things Network, with shorter battery life as the trade-off.
Measurements and staff photos together
The Digiteam created a webpage bringing different data together. Staff could also upload photos. The dashboard was visible at PWN’s headquarters and provided a combined view of the pond. The main outcomes were demonstration and testing sensors and connectivity.
